Stripe is a major payment provider. When searching for “Stripe Terminal” on Google, competitor ads filled the screen on a desktop computer. It was only when using a bigger display that the official site appeared at the bottom of the viewport without needing to scroll.
We’re not searching with generic terms like “point of sale terminal”; why should there be competitors above the real result, and why is the real result so hard to find — we wouldn’t know it exists without scrolling.
Being below the fold is a common occurrence for official sites in search results, with sites pushed out of the way by ads, not just when searching with generic terms, but for a specific brand.
